The Maison Gaudard has been standing opposite the cathedral in the heart of Lausanne since the Middle Ages. And in 2000, “mudac", the museum of applied arts also took root here. In this history-steeped setting, today you discover the very much up-to-date works of contemporary graphic designers, fashion designers, architects and illustrators.
The mudac is the one and only museum of applied arts at home in western Switzerland. Since the year 2000 its been housed directly opposite the cathedral in the "Maison Gaudard", a medieval building of national importance. Under this roof with cheeky spire, visitors discover contemporary design and the artworks of graphic designers, architects, illustrators and fashion makers.
The two permanent exhibitions and six annual shows on current themes are devoted to a variety of beautiful things. In addition, the curators of mudac create an attractive platform for performing arts - with dancers, musicians and various performers regularly invited to further enliven the house with sounds, performances and stories.
